Silverdale is north of Bremerton and south of Poulsbo, in the unincorporated area of Central Kitsap. Silverdale has experienced tremendous growth since the late 1970s when the U.S. Navy chose Kitsap County as the site for the west coast Trident Submarine Base.

In addition to the submarine base, Silverdale has become a regional retail center since the Kitsap Mall opened its doors in 1985.

The Central Kitsap School District has been a leader in student-community programs and is nationall recognized for its advanced placement student opportunities in multiple courses including foreign languages, sciences, mathematics and social sciences.
